So you’ve checked out the site for the first time, what do you think? Initial reactions on content, functionality, whatever!

Jason, great site. There are a lot of good things on here so keep up the good work. Good look and feel. Good organization visually for things like reviews and forums. Here are some suggestions: 1. I’d changed the rating icon/horizontal thermometer. Unless you’re going to color code this (which could be good) you might want something a little nicer looking. Yelp has a good simple 5 star system. 2. I’d add search but that seems to be on your radar 3. I’d ad the ability to sort by rating. It’s not that necessary now, but as you grow content, you’ll want a way to quickly short the wheat from the chaff. I’d also make the sorting hold the contraints of any search terms used or categories in. 4. When I opened up this feedback box, a little “Error on page” icon and message appeared at the bottom left of my browser (IE7). 5. I love being able to start with credits to test things out. That’s great. I think it’s a good way to promote initial usage, although it can be abused. If you decide to keep offering 2 (or whatever number) credits with each account, a possible way to police it would be to offer uses the option to add their credit card during sign up and give them X credits if they do so. Then enable each credit card to be associated with only one account. Just a thought.

Great work. Glad to see it in action.

Hello Mindbites. My first impression was a very positive one. I think the concept is solid and necessary. It bridges the knonwledge gap in all of us. Feedback: The home page although very well organized and clear to me seemed to lack a bit of “pop”. The site seems to want to be more instructional then entertainment driven and if so it makes sense but the “how to pick up girls” video kind of surprised me. That seems to be more entertainment driven than instructional, you know what I mean. After clicking on the front/main video it took me to the second page where I wasn’t sure what to click on, the right side with View Full Lesson Now, or the video itself. I clicked on the video play button first, then realized that there was a button on the right side for viewing. A bit hidden perhaps. I also had difficulties with both streams, alot of pausing and inconsistent sound. I realize you might be upgrading or it might be my connection but do you have some kind of a guarantee, or refund, or maybe a tool that detects a bad stream or download and allows you view it again. That sounds a bit crazy but someone will ask sooner or later. One function I didn’t see whas the “email your friend” option. I think this might be a good addition if implemented correctly, it’s good for viral marketing and cash flow. Not sure about the cost structure though…maybe if you send an email/video to a friend the sender only pays half. ? I’ll give it some more thought.

Hi OneLight, Thanks for the thoughts. On terms of your home page thoughts, were you looking at the home (click on the logo) or explore page (explore in the tab)? Your comment on the video being confusing is a common one. People are confused by the player showing a 60 second preview vs. clicking the buy button to view or download the entire lesson. We will be rolling out some changes soon to hopeuflly clarify this. One question though as to which browser you are using, because if you clicked play it should have started playing.

In terms of playback quality, yeah we are using progressive downloading similar to Youtube and others and the quality of playback will depend on the speed of your connection, current congestion on the internet, etc. At some point we will be able to detect your connection speed and adjust accordingly. In the meantime, if playback is slow, you can always hit pause and let the download bar (red in the current player version, but it will be light blue in a new version coming out this week) get a good headstart on the playback bar.

On the email this video for a friend, we do have some really cool technology coming to do that. You will actually be able to click a button on the player and enter their email address right there and send away. This would only email a preview though, and I think your idea of essentially buyind a second copy for a friend is a good one.

Thanks again for the thoughts and please keep them coming!

Aside from your site being a complete rip-off (conceptually and price-wise), try not to complete half your sentences with an exclamation point. Just my two cents…
