Chapter markers are a quick and easy way to add value to your lesson. They show up during playback in QuickTime, iTunes, and on the iPod near the playback controls and allow the viewer to easily navigate the sections of your lesson. This allows someone to quickly reference a certain topic in your lesson without having to manually sift through the entire video in search of what they need.

In iMovie you simply go to Markers -> Add Chapter Markers. In Final Cut hit ‘M’ at the point where you want the marker then go to Mark -> Markers -> Edit and click Add Chapter Marker. Then rename the marker to whatever you want the name of the chapter to be, i.e. materials, preparation, etc. The chapter information will then be included in your video when you export via Compressor or iMovie.

I just wanted to comment on how helpful these chapter markers are to me as a viewer. Most people are likely not going to learn/remember everything after their first viewing, and the chapter markers are so helpful in not having to watch the entire video over again to gain the one piece of info. you need from the middle of the video.
