Due to the mere inclusion of the word ‘walking’ included, many may dismiss power walking as a pseudo-exercise from a cardio perspective. That said, they obviously overlook the word ‘power’ in making this call. If you know what you’re doing, you can get a great cardio workout via power walking (while benefiting your heart, toning and sculpting your legs and melting away fat). In essence, power walking has many of the same benefits as jogging except with different leg muscles worked and much, much less detrimental wear and tear on your joints than running or jogging. Like running, though it’s fantastic because you can do it in the great outdoors. This video instructs you on correct power walking technique, how to vary your intensity (phase one versus phase two versus phase three) and how frequently (time per week and duration of workout) you should be powerwalking depending upon your level of fitness.
