Mountain Climbing is one of the most physically demanding and mentally challenging sports there is. To do well, you need muscle endurance moreso than large muscles, which tend to require greater amounts of oxygen.
In this lesson, Mountaineer XXXX talks to us about the sport and his training regimen for mountaineering. He does tons of sets and repetitions with heavy leg weights but light upper body weights (except for the pack he carries when doing cardio). On-mountain training is obviously best, but it's not possible to be on all mountains year-round. In addition to training, mountain climbers must know their physical limitations (and when they need to turn back to ensure that they can not only get to the summit but also get back down safely).
There are three different types of mountaineering: Alpine Climbing, Winter Climbing, and Expedition. They vary depending on the length of the climb and thus the amount of equipment required for the climb.
