In this lesson, we learn about sailing. You'll learn about the differences between sailing and yachting as well as the basics of what's involved with sailing. The biggest misconception about sailing is that it is very difficult to pick up on. While it has a language all it's own, it's not as hard to pick up on as many believe. Anyone can sail. The most elite racers are obviously very fit, and fitness is an advantage. However, a high level of fitness is definitely not a requirement
When sailing, the wind is important, so you'll pay attention to the speed and direction of it. This will determine how you want to set up the boat to optimize your use of the wind. For many, the appeal of sailing (versus power boating) is the use of the wind - really using nature to propel the boat. It makes the sport feel more in synch with nature.

This technique is part of the Body Noble Method, which is a safe,...

I've been sailing since I was very little and this short video is a great ice breaker for anyone who might be curious about sailing as a hobby or sport.
Don't be thrown off by the boats in the video though, there are tons of very small sailboats like the Sunfish and Laser that can easily be handled with one person and are great to learn on. The smaller boats are also more fun because you can get wet if you really want to!
