Diving…where sport and art intersect. In this artistic segment, we take to the pool to meet the latest stars on board, get insight to their training and watch their performances unfold.

Arturo Miranda, a master high diver, gives us a general overview of diving as a sport and diving techniques. Arturo started diving as a 5 year old in Cuba.

Diving debuted as "fancy diving" at the Olympics in 1904, with the men's competition. To practice for diving competitions, many divers practice gymnastics, ballet, coordination, contemporary dance, and trampoline. All of these activities have elements that are needed by divers.

In Olympic contests, only the 10 meter platform and 3 meter springboard are used. A dive is judged for takeoff, bearing of body in the air, execution of dive, and entry into the water. Diving is for all ages, to enjoy the sport you can start anytime -- plus, it's a great work out to boot!
