Egypt Uprising - PART ONE (live presentation) by Dr. Ronald L. Hatchett: A condensed overview of the history, size, geography, and social culture of Egypt. Beginning with political rule of Socialist Gamel Abdel Nasser in 1952 and his ideas of Pan-Arabism, Hatchett leads up to how Mubarak came to power in 1981. Part One (of three) lays the foundation for understanding the recent uprising and today's political situation in Egypt and the Middle East. Also covered: Anwar Sadat, U.S. involvement in Egypt, and the 1960s & 1970s in Egypt. Hatchett's PowerPoint slides with detailed facts and explanations are cross-faded into the live presentation for ease of reading and understanding. Recorded on February 11, 2011.
Dr. Hatchett served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years in intelligence and politico-military affairs and was a senior civilian official in the Department of Defense working with arms control and international security issues during President Reagan’s administration. He is a frequent world news analyst for local and national TV and radio.
