This lesson is part of the following series:

Prajna Home Practice Video Series (7 lessons, $115.83)
SATYA Series (3 lessons, $46.53)

The shoulders are so closely tied to the neck that when there is shoulder strain, often it is combined with neck pain.

The following sequence includes gentle flowing movements that release the neck and shoulders. By increasing range of motion in the neck, shoulders and upper chest, abundant blood is irrigated into the joints and tissues, thus helping maintain the health and longevity of the shoulders and their surrounding joint spaces.

As a person who has a tendency to hold tension in the neck & shoulders this is a practice I come back to this particular practice weekly & more when possible. It works, and I love the awareness it builds in the neck & shoulder area as well as the spine. The pace is condusive to building that awareness. I would say I am at least Intermediate in my yoga practice (having practiced over 10 yrs as a student & now teaching), but I come back to the home series time & time again for the precision & alignment. Then I can take this away into faster paced, more 'advanced' practices, or take more advanced modifications of what is offered in these practices. Tias is an excellent teacher, focusing on body awareness & anatomical alignment, before depth of pose. I know I can trust his knowledge & practices.

I thought this was a more advanced opening series. I could take a nap rather than do this. YIKES.
