Bathing a newborn can be a nerve racking experience. Many babies cry the first time they are bathed and this can make new mothers very anxious. There are several different ways you can bathe a baby, in a sink, in a baby bath, in the big bath etc. I want to share how I bathed my baby for the first time because it was a very calm experience and, as you will see in the video, my daughter was very relaxed through the whole thing-no tears! I will go through how to bathe a baby step-by-step. I highly recommend this way to bathe a newborn because it is a very enjoyable experience for the baby. Please note, I am not an expert, just a mom who had a really cool first bath experience and wanted to share :) I hope you enjoy the video!
Note: you are purchasing the right to download or access this video lesson online. Unfortunately, we do not offer lessons in a DVD format.

- Great New Baby Bath Product

I recently tried a new baby bath product called Palm-Palms baby bath grips. They work wonderfully to maintain a secure grip on baby throught bath time, even when she is slippery and anxious. I recommend it to all moms and dads (www.palm-palms.com).

Great alternative for parents who are shown the standard newborn bath in hospital (and who aren't lucky enough to have midwives giving them all kinds of great tips). Thank you!!
I'd suggest:
1) Making sure to tell parents to wipe from front to back when cleaning genitals of girl babies - mom in video seems to be going in opposite direction.
2) Just reminding parents that if they're by themselves they have their own robes/towel close by so that after they put babies down and wrap them in towel after bath they can look after themselves. Babies can stay on floor safely while parent dries him/herself.
3) Letting parents know they can also take older babies in shower with them!(Once they can sit). Babies love this - they study the water going down the drain and it's really a fun thing to do (and great for the parent who doesn't have time for a bath). When we had 3 kids under 2 (a set of twins) we'd get everybody clean this way in no time.
Thanks for the great website! -
- Every mom should do this with their newborn

This video has such a great approach to bathing a newborn (you get in the tub with the baby)-- our little guy LOVES bathtime as a result of using this method. There are so many products on the market like plastic tubs that would never give you this bonding experience (and they hurt your back and you have to worry about not letting the baby slip). Great, great video that has totally influenced this ritual for us.

Bathing a newborn can be very trying and scary for a new mother. The instructions given in the video were very well outlined. When I had my children no one told me about taking the baby into the bathtub as it is the most natural thing for a baby. The baby has the security and comfort of mother. The demonstration outlined points that one might forget like 'using the blanket to keep the baby from slipping' is an excellent example.
This was a well thought out video and I know that I would have used this method instead of the frustration and scary experience in a small baby tub. -
- Detailed and Reassuring

This video shows all the steps that you need to take when bathing your newborn for the first time. The mom provides detailed information on how to set up the bathroom, what you will need for after the bath, and how to go about bathing your baby. She also reminds you of the safety considerations and provides information for new mothers on types of products that are useful and how to use them properly. Every step is shown in detail, and she gives options for mothers who are bathing the baby without assistance. You can see how relaxed her baby is! The mom is patient and detailed, and by seeing the bath in action you can see what a great method this is. Every new mom should watch this video!

We are given no instructions when dealing with a baby so it is great to see step by step lessons like these to help explain all the processes of raising a newborn. This video is very clear and goes through every aspect of bathing a newborn.

- Really Neat Video for First Time Parents
- 06/12/2007

You know you must be doing something right when during your baby's first ever bath, the point at which she looks most uncomfortable is when daddy's camera flash keeps going off. :) In this neat lesson, Laura shows firsthand how to bathe a newborn for the first time. She not only goes step-by-step, covering all the little details that the nervous first parents would never think about. She also captures what a special moment it can be. Laura, you have saved a lot of parents and newborns a lot of suffering with this one.
