28-How to Play the Drums: Snare Drum

Now that we are used to playing and counting semiquavers or “sixteenth notes” as we can also call them, we can learn to play semiquaver patterns on the snare drum with a steady quaver high hat pulse. This means that sometimes the left hand will play on the snare drum without the right hand on the high hat being with it. Quite a few of the snare drum rhythms will also be dotted rhythms.

In this lesson, you'll review 8 specific beats. These will all involve a steady quaver high hat pulse, and as you progress, they will become more complex.
