I love fabric. And sewing machines. I have 500 sq. feet of fabric in big plastic tubs and 9 sewing machines. It seemed logical to start teaching sewing lessons in order to pay for the care and feeding of my fabric and machines so I opened The Stitching Studio in Austin, Tx. Visit me on the web at http://www.homesewnow.com and of course - download a MindBite!

I recently inherited a Brother, 1950's sewing machine and I can't wait to use it...correctly. I feel like I'm doing all the steps right, threading the bobbin and the top thread but the top thread always jams in the bottom bobbin clasp. I read some forums and found out that I should hold the thread out to the left before starting to sew. This has been working so far but is there another thing that I'm missing?

I thought this was a very clear and easy to follow lesson. Although I've been sewing for a number of years, I learned some terminology through watching this lesson. The instructor seemed quite knowledgeable.
