the zodiac sets molds and makes fates. mine are as follows: homogenously white male of the north american continent, born under the burdensome sky of the fickle and elusive/allusive crab, finds solace in solitude, likes trees when tall, drinks moderately when happy, chain reads in an effort to turn all books read into one long, endless book, always chases and fails to catch cat naps, drinks heavily when sad, smokes cigarettes and hates them, laughs only at the dry, swips office supplies only to throw them away later, aims only for problematic horizons...end.

Don't worry about buying part 1 first, it is mostly background and I don't think you'll be lost if you start with this one. Sterling does a good job of demonstrating how to make espresso, capuccino, cafe au lait, cafe americano, basic coffee, a cafe latte, and discusses how to make thai coffee.
It is great to see things get put together in order, I already had some of this equipment, but didn't realize the range of things I could do with it to expand my range of tasty coffee at home. One important thing he doesn't mention is with a basic italian coffee maker (the Bialetti) make sure not to get coffee grounds on the threads as you load the machine. Taking the area where the espresso out to load it as he does is probably a good idea, I've had problems with not getting a good seal, and/or cross-threading mine in the past.

Yikes, no wonder Starbucks doesn't sell these things in their stores. It took me a few chances to find one but I finally did at Bed, Bath and Beyond. If Starbucks sold them they would be out of business. And if you like your coffee as much as I do then you'd be saving a lot of money! I'm buying my parents a Bialetti for Christmas and also a MindBites account so that they can see how their $300, counter top espresso machines are a waste of money and space versus the very sleek look of a $20 Italian Bialetti.
