This lesson is part of the series: Residential Home Inspection - Identifying Problems
This lesson will instruct you on how to inspect the foundation of a home. The foundation of your home is its main support and is very important. Foundation problems that are not caught early can be very expensive to repair. You will learn the different styles of home foundations, pad foundations, crawl space foundations, and basements, and what warning signs to look for with each style. If problems are suspected with the home's foundation, only a structural engineer can verify that they are, in fact, structural problems and will need to be repaired. You will also learn what hints to look for within your home, on any exposed foundation you can see, and on the driveways and walkways around your home.
