I'm an avid Spanish speaker. I made this video to assist others in their communication skills and promote cross cultural relationships.

This is a good pragmatic language lesson. Carmen, a woman who grew up speaking Spanish, is essentially teaching her friend Ellen some basic phrases to use with a Spanish-speaking housekeeper. Going room by room through her house, they cover the basics in each room, such as cleaning the dishes, making the bed, etc. What I also really appreciated was Carmen's constant politeness in using please, etc in her speech. Great first lesson for this category! I can't wait for others in the community to add on to it!

Room for improvement: I thought the lesson could have moved a little faster and covered more phrases. Now, I am a moderate Spanish speaker though, and this is probably just right for beginners. I also would really like to see a handout with the phrases and key vocabulary on it that I can use to practice and as a cheat sheet. The production was pretty good overall. In the next lesson in this category, I'd love to

Being polite and definitive were key to this lesson. Workers always appreciate clarity from their employer and you've done that. Nice job! - Frances Moore-Jones, author Translated Phrase Housekeeper Cards
