The perfect pair of properly fitting jeans. It's like the holy grail of fashion finds. Unfortunately, most of us do not have the stamina nor wherewithal to attempt such a daunting quest. So Shauna has taken it upon herself to educate the masses on how to hem their own jeans.
Operating out of her homegrown sewing studio, First Samples, Shauna has years of experience dealing with jean maintenance. In this lesson, she explains how anyone with a sewing machine, and the knowledge of how to use it, can obtain perfectly hemmed pants without having to take them to the tailor.

First Samples opened its doors in January of 2005. It was created in response to the interest people were showing to learn how to sew apparel and the lack of places to learn at. It's main goal is to nurture and propagate the art and craft of garment construction. We live every day from the day we are born to the day we die wearing sewn products. We have become so removed from our clothes that most of us have trouble sewing a button on. Our sewing is all outsourced. First Samples wants to bring it back home.

- Thanks SOO much! Learned a lot of helpful tips!

After seeing all the crappy YouTube tutorials (just a bunch of people butchering their jeans). I realized I needed to find a professional. And I'm so happy I stumbled upon the preview. So, I thought I'll gamble my $2 bucks and watch this chick. And I'm so glad I did! By far the best tips were that I should measure from the waist down; didn't think the factory could be that off. And that I should double check my tension and err on the tighter/higher setting. I'm on my way to go buy some jeans thread. I was going to just use some gold thread I had but I do want the thicker thread look.
And both of you ladies were just so cute!
Thanks!

I have wanted to hem my own jeans for sometime now. I can't find jeans with a short enough inseam as I need a 27 inch inseam. This video was very helpful and straight forward for the process to use while hemming jeans. Thanks for a good job.

I thought this lesson was very helpful and I am so glad that I finally found a resource that shows me step by step how to hem my jeans. It was impossible for me to figure it out on my own and this saved me a lot of trial and error time. Thanks First Samples!
