In this video, Eric covers the basics of three-point video lighting, using a key, fill and back light. He also tells how you can build an inexpensive light kit using items found at your local hardware store, including: clip-on lights, dimmers, clamps, white bouncecards, and colored gels. The bottom line is that a little attention placed on getting good light in your videos will go a long way.

Really great use of natural lighting

I've noticed more and more how I shouldn't rely on my camera's flash to develop my picture but instead take advantage of the external light sources. Your pictures will turn out better and have more depth to them instead of being flat.

I’ve never really considered lighting because I usually shoot during the day outdoors. However, once I begin recording subjects in doors, I realized that I needed to learn how to light adequately, rather fast. What I got out of this is that as a novice, I can get hold of lighting tools at little cost and with a few simple techniques light the subject in an interesting way.
