Seriously, I was so shocked not too long ago when my sister and I were reminiscing about making shrinky dinks when we were young, and my wife, who is only a few years younger than I am, had no idea what we were talking about. Now Claire not only shows you how to make them yourself to share with your own kids, but she shows you how to do it with recycled plastic to boot. Great job Claire!
sorry, I don't get it.
The lighting is bad the quality is bad. Was it shot with a dvd camera or vhs.
I've been watching your contest and It's hard to understand.
It's more like who has more friends or sub e-mail accounts contest.
There should be 1 vote per person. That would show an accurate
account.
I never heard about doing this before but I love it! Our family often does 'do it yourself' Christmas presents...I know what I'm doing this year :-)

Thanks guys! Soaplady- black #6 plastic should work the same way. I suggest either using Milky pens (opaque pastel colored gel pens), light-colored or metallic paint pens, or rough up the surface with sandpaper and use light-colored pencils. You can also use dark shrink plastic to make silhouettes. Hope that helps!
Being a stay at home dad/grandpa, I'm always looking for something to do with 2 and 3 year old little girls.
I thought this would be cool. It was, for them.
Now we can't buy enough fruit to keep them in shrinky dinks.
I am curious to know how long the plastic should stay in the oven? I'm just looking for a ballpark figure...does it take about 3 minutes to bake or 20? Thanks! This is a great idea :)
It usually takes less than 2 minutes. I recommend hanging around and watching it shrink. It's fun to watch and you'll also get a good idea of when it's finished.
Love your vid! It's creative and different, and you're entertaining, quirky like me hehe.
I'm sooo going to make some of these now! I mean, come on, it's free AND it's good for the environment! Not to mention I need an excuse to be crafty!! ;--D
I'v been an Wearable art artist for 9 years and I'v seen and have had the erg to make so shrink a dink jewelry but just never got around to using that medium any way now that you have come up with this idea i just have to make lots and lots and help our earth and safe the plastic from going into the trash and I want to thank you for taking the time to share i will be teaching this to my community youth at my friend gallery your little one is soooooooo cute if you would like to see my art visit my web www.secretsbeadsnthing.com not every thing is up yet I live in Los Angeles CA
