In this Mindbite Insight, you will learn how to build a green screen in your home or garage for less than $150.00. All the materials were purchased at a hardware store except for the green screen which was purchased on line for $39.99. You could go to the fabric store and purchase green material, however, we couldn't find it in the size we wanted. I mention you need a fabric size 8'x10', however, you can go smaller. I like a large dimension because you can pull the subject back and the camera.

This was a lot of fun, good luck.

Green Screen = Fun

I'm a newbie to the film world, so I only had a vague idea about chroma key, or green screen, techniques. Eric makes the set-up, with the tech green fabric, the dowel rod, and the lights, seem pretty simple. How difficult is the editing, though? I've found that editing, in general, is not as complicated as I'd previously imagined, but I haven't tried anything too fancy. It looks so cool, once it's been shot & edited!

Building a green screen is not as hard as I thought. But it still looks like there can be issues taking out the green in some editing programs. I really like to use After Effects Keylight filter to take out most of the green screen background. Another great program to use is Final Cut Pro. Both are kind of expensive but they give the best results!
