The porcelain throne. It's a trusted and close friend, yet too many of its inner workings seem as foreign and mysterious as an Australian didgeridoo. And when disaster befalls you and your comforting companion goes defunct, what will you do to correct the complication before the unthinkable becomes the unmentionable.

Good thing there's Ray. He's the handyman with the handy knowledge to put most of our worries to rest. In this lesson, Ray takes us through the basics of home toilet repair with steps diluted to such simplicity, even the most inept of factotums will find themselves managing beneath his guidance.

So strap on that tool belt, pull up those trousers, and dive head first into toilet repair.

What can I say other than THANK YOU! It feels so great to be able to do something for yourself and not have to call someone in to do it for you. Great lesson, very easy to understand. I look forward to more!

Matt rated 5 out of 5 Excellent, I did it in minutes! 04/08/2007 ~ matt

I happened to be grappling with my toilet when I found this lesson. It had taken me almost an hour to disassemble the inside without guidance and after watching this I had it together in working in about five minutes.

Ray does a great job of showing how the different parts interconnect and what you have to worry about. Make sure you have a good set of channel-locks handy before starting here, it makes all the difference when you are working with parts that may have fused together.

This lesson covers replacing the pieces of the toilet inside the tank (flapper, etc.) and the connecting pipe from the wall to the toilet. It does not cover how the tank or seat attaches, or how to remove/replace the toilet. Those might be a good subject for another lesson Ray, since they can be intimidating. Thanks so much for this, it was a life-saver!
