Do you find life too stressed and hectic sometimes? Or do you just wish you had more control over your thoughts and emotions? Shamata, or calm abiding, is a simple yet powerful meditation that helps cultivate mindfulness and allows one to calmly rest in the present moment . In this lesson Billy, a long time instructor at the Austin Shambhala Meditation Center, gives Jason Shamata instruction followed by some Q&A.
Proceeds will go to benefit the ASMC.

An excellent introduction to a meditation practise. I would agree, however, that sound quality should be improved.

Hey...i thought it was great. The noise in the background was loud in spots and maybe a little disruptive but other than that it was great...See you in the meditation cabin @ your house!

I agree with the previous reviewer that better sound quality would have improved this lesson. Overall it is very good, and it would serve as an excellent introduction to meditation practice for a beginner. Ideally, one should have individual, face-to-face instruction. This is a close second best. I would encourage anyone who wants seriously to pursue a meditation practice to seek out a qualified instructor.
Great content...execution a little shaky. 04/24/2007

This is a wonderfully informative video, Billy is very knowledgeable and is constantly providing interesting information that complements the overall lesson. My only criticism is that the sound quality is pretty weak. At times it can be somewhat difficult to make out what is being said, which detracts from the calming intention.
Next time, try using a microphone of higher quality, or shooting the video in a place with less noise. It seems to be a very echoing room, which is typically a bad setting for any sort of sound recording.
Other than that, great video. Can't wait to see learn more about Shamata meditation. Om.
