In this installment of the Art of Catching instructional series, ex-Major Leaguer Brent Mayne demonstrates the proper mechanics involved in throwing out potential base stealers.
This clip thoroughly explains a catcher's priorities as they relate to throwing, handwork and exchange, footwork and balance, and timing. It also includes game speed and super slow motion examples.
This video is guaranteed to improve your caught stealing percentage, decrease your "pop" times, make you a more effective all around catcher, and let you have more fun playing or coaching the game of baseball. Appropriate for baseball/softball catchers and coaches of all levels, from Little League to the Big Leagues. Enjoy.

Catching is one of the most important defensive positions on the field, yet little if any instruction on the subject has ever been available - until now. In The Art of Catching video series, I distill fifteen years of Major League experience (ranked 4th in the history of baseball for career fielding percentage .993 and 75th for games caught 1,143) to provide cutting-edge overviews of all the crucial technical aspects of the position. Appropriate for players of all levels, from Little League to the major leagues. Whether you're a coach, player, or curious fan, these videos are guaranteed to enhance your baseball experience.

This is an outstanding throwing video for all who wants to be a catcher or who is teaching catching. Brent was a great receiver and throwning catcher. He breaks this video down to the simplest form of throwing so there is no unnessary movements.
