About The Unknown Professor
Due to a complicated agreement involving his home university, several extra-governmental multinational organizations, and the Federal Witness Protection Program, the Unknown Professor publishes under a pseudonym.
"UP", as he is known to his friends (all three of them), received a PhD in finance in the late 1990s. In his 15+ years of teaching at colleges ranging from small private schools to major state universities, he has taught a wide variety of finance courses, including Personal Finance, Introductory Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance, Markets and Institutions, Fixed Income, Investments, Security Analysis, and Applied Portfolio Management.
While not teaching in the classroom, he runs the popular "Financial Rounds" blog (viewable at
financialrounds.blogspot.com), which has grown over the last seven years to the point where it has over 1000 subscribers.
His students at his home university (also known as "Unknown University, in homage to Terry Pratchett)consistently give him high marks for his clarity, enthusiasm, off-kilter sense of humor, total lack of fashion sense, seemingly endless supply of lame jokes, and for using clear and memorable illustrations that "make the complicated simple."
