Really impressed by the quality of this video and the step-by-step instructions. It definitely helped me solve my problem of under-wedging! My clay objects kept warping as they dried :( This is the best advice I can give anyone who's having trouble throwing their vases: wedge, wedge, and when you think you've done enough, wedge some more!

Below are the descriptions for each of the lessons included in the series:

• How to Make Pottery 1: Wedge Clay, Select Tools

  Lesson one for beginning potters from Cindy Clarke of Out of the Fire Studio. Cindy has been potting for over 35 years and has many useful tips to share. The first lesson of this twelve part series illustrates wedging clay and the tools required for wheel throwing clay.

• How to Make Pottery 2: Center/Open/Throw Cylinder

  Learning how to center the clay is one of the most important elements when learning to throw pottery on the wheel. In this lesson Cindy Clarke of Out of the Fire Studio demonstrates how to center the clay, how to open the clay, and then how to pull the clay up to form a cylinder. • How to Make Pottery 3: How to Throw Cylinders

  Lesson three from Cindy Clarke of Out of the Fire Studio shows how to salvage the thin rimmed cylinder from lesson two. She then follows that up with throwing and showing a properly thrown cylinder in cross section.

• How to Make Pottery 4: How to Throw a Vase

  Throwing a vase on the potter's wheel is demonstrated by Cindy Clarke of Out of the Fire Studio. Beginning with a review of centering, Cindy shows how the student takes the cylinder form and "cuddles" it into a vase.

• How to Make Pottery 5: Throw a Bowl (pt 1/2)

  Cindy Clarke of Out of the Fire Studio demonstrates how the student can take the basic cylinder form and turn it into a bowl, beginning with a review of centering ,opening, and pulling. She demonstrates how NOT to throw a bowl in this, the first of a two part lesson. Lesson 6 (http://www.mindbites.com/lesson/1609) concludes the lesson with a properly thrown bowl.
