Kinematics allows you to describe the motion of objects, for example the path of a golf ball after it is hit. Dynamics allows you to understand why objects, such as golf balls, move the way they do. In this 15-lesson unit, we'll get introduced to dynamics and we'll learn about the forces involved and the best approaches to solving problems involving dynamics (including problems involving uniform circular motion, friction, etc).
We'll start with a few lessons on Newton's Three Laws and a lesson on weight versus mass as well as a lesson on free-body diagrams. Newton's first law is a fundamental part of dynamics. It states that in the absence of a net force, a body at rest stays at rest, and a moving body continues moving in a straight line with constant speed. This is also known as the Law of Inertia, as inertia is the resistance of an object to changes in its state of motion.
