About this Series

This set of five individual lessons will help you to teach you little one to sign to a variety of popular children's songs, including: 'Itsy Bitsy Spider,' 'Baa Baa Black Sheep,' 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,' 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm,' 'On Top of Spaghetti,' 'Row, Row, Row your Boat,' 'It's Raining, It's Pouring,' 'RED,' 'YELLOW,' 'GREEN,' and 'BLUE.'
Children love putting actions to songs, so why not teach them ASL signs to use with the songs? These lessons will take you through each song step-by-step and show you the different signs you can use when singing the songs.
In addition to these songs, you'll also learn several different alphabet songs (whether you're American and say Zee or Canadian and say Zed) - one that teaches what the letters sound like and one that teaches words that start with the letters.
For all of the songs, Laura will walk you through exactly how to make the correct signs.
Enjoy!

Baby Sign Language - Alphabet Songs (American)
In this baby sign language video lesson, you will see three different versions of alphabet songs. The preview gives you an example of what each video segment will teach you.
The first segment is designed for children to practice their American Sign Language Alphabet. They can see the different hand shapes and sign and sing along with the song. We made the song slow enough for the child to be able to change and absorb each hand shape.
The second segment is designed to teach the sounds the letters make. Once you learn the sounds of the letters you can then start to put together words. You can ask your child what does C (showing the letter c and having them sound it out), A, T spell - you can sound it out together as you go.
The third segment teaches you the signs in the first alphabet song. At the end of this song I will go over how to make each sign.
Each song has a chapter marker so you will easily be able to find the particular song you like.
I hope you enjoy singing along to these songs!

I really like this, but I wish each song was on a video by itself so we could go straight to it.
And I wish I could get this on a DVD so I and Kids could watch it together.
I love the music, it's so fun.
Thanks Ruth Glenn
makes it easy to remember letters
I thought this was great. I'm teaching my preschool class to sing and sign the alphabet song for their graduation ceremony. This is a great way to reinforce the sign language motions. I only gave it a 4 out of 5 just because the picture resolution isn't the greatest -especially when you do full screen-
I found this lesson very helpful. It would also help if pictures accopmanied the video to assist with learning the signs. Thanks Karen209@cox.net
I learned ASL in high school, but haven't used it much since then. This lesson was such a refresher, and is easy to remember, set to a song (original music by the author!). This lesson has inspired me to start using sign language with my toddler to further encourage his speech and communication. I can't wait to see how it goes!
I've already forwarded this to a all of my soon-to-be-mommy friends. Laura is so talented in her ability to teach babies sign language. As seen in the video, her daughter is incredibly smart already! I can't believe she speaks so well and at such a young age.
This video is very useful and full of great information. Learning how to sign 'Old McDonald' and 'On Top of Spaghetti' are great first songs to teach your kids.
Laura's baby is adorable singing and signing those songs. I liked that she explains you can just do the main signs until you and your baby are ready for more. It makes it fun but not intimidating.
